About Me
A few years ago I was working for an adventure tourism company that took people on hiking and biking trips. Naturally we would get questions about the routes, and as guides we were able to answer them with accuracy, but it got me thinking. I started to question if describing routes to guests was the best way to give information about them? After the tour season I came back and began working on my first georeferenced route dashboard. It was of the switchbacks of Zion national park, that initial dashboard can be seen here.
This map required the user to click on waypoints rather than use a slider like the current iteration and has been improved in many other ways. Prex Map has come a long way since that long project and will continue to grow to offer insights for adventurers everywhere.
I began thinking about the applications of this kind of dashboard for outdoor enthusiasts and further developed the interface to be more user friendly as well as refine the process of creating them. I hope to continue to hone the maps and create a positive experience for users to help them pre-explore routes before heading out!
Go enjoy the outdoors!
